In 2008, global environmental issues and NGO /NPO's important roles are well understood by ordinary Japanese and importance of independent policy research capacity is severely recognized by concerned Japanese. However,in 1988,there were almost zero
conditions in those three subjects! WRI has contributed to these positive changes in Japan. This the end of Oct. is the fifiteenth anniversary of Jonathan Lash's first visit to Japan.

Twentieth Anniversary since "Tokyo Conference on the Global Environment and Human Response Toward Sustainable Development" was heldm Sept.11-13,1989 and James Gustave Speth was the keynote speaker.
Since then, Japanese people opened their eyes how their economic activities impacted on natural resources of other regions of the earth and started to struggle how to make the balance between Environment and Development.

Since then, WRI has influenced to Japan's policy making proceses for a sustainable development.

In this site, such a story will be informed.
